From my calendar today, 1 Corinthians 4:13, “Charity suffereth long, and is kind, charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up.” When I go to my Bible I’m currently studying, a New King James version the word charity is replaced with love. Wait a minute I messed up that is 13:4. Oh, well to the dictionary I go. Charity is defined as, “The providing of help to the poor, spiritual benevolence; brotherly love.” Love is defined as, “A deep devotion or affection for another.” Well I’m in 1 Corinthians 4 now and I can’t get away from it. The fourth chapter of 1 Corinthians is one of the most poetic and beautiful writings in the Bible. It starts out, “Though I speak with the tongues of men and angels, but have not love, I have become a clanging cymbal.” What you do overshadows your words every time.
How about 4:4, “Love suffers long and is kind, love does not envy, love does not parade itself, is not puffed up, does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked..........hopes all things endures all things.” The Lord has already spoke to me about being provoked and what I said to one that I love. I have found that the statement, “you always hurt the one you love, the one you shouldn’t hurt at all,” is too often true. At that very moment when I said, shut up, I knew I was wrong in what I said. The one I love dearly was hurt. Love does not seek to harm! Looks like one of those beat up Billy mornings.
How about 4:8, “Love never fails.” have you had those times when you have tried numerous times to love the situation away. You find yourself beyond your comfort zone, yet you press on trying, wishing that in some way your love will change the heart of that one you love dearly. You see issues, you lovingly provide them support, they don’t change, and you keep on trying. Love can be very frustrating, making demands on you that you would not give time too for yourself, yet because of love you endure.
What about 4:11, “When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child, but when I became a man I put away childish things.” Wow, that one thing could change so many difficult moments in relationships. So often age has little to do with how one acts. Far too many times our childish attitudes carry over into adulthood. Your remarks can hurt or support love. Your actions are often better communicators of what you have in your heart. Where are my steel toed shoes?
I continue 4:12, “For now we see through a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.” I’m convinced that we know so little in His great scheme of things. The why’s, the mysteries, the evil ways man conducts their lives, even my own responses at times, will someday be revealed. While I constantly press on toward the mark I know how far I miss it. My love has yet to reach maturity. I pray for his guidance and patience.
The last verse says, “And now abide faith, hope and love, these three, but the greatest of these is love.” Well my mistake placed me in the scripture I needed today. Sometimes in our quests in life we forget love. I pray that Jesus will continue to be my guide in my pursuit's; He alone is the example. Jesus said, “Greater love has no man then to lay down their life for a friend.” He’s been there, done that, and forever will be our example of perfect love. Thank you Father.

Unity
Well the elections are over and now the important part; remembering that even though your vote was on the losing side of the issue, you are still an American, an Ohioan, a citizen of this great country. Now the important part starts. When the election is over and the results in, unity is important. Democrat, Republican, Independent, whatever you might call yourself, we must now determine that we will try to make the best of what the majority of people voted in. For the Christian this can be a stretch but Jesus said, “Render therefore unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's and to God the things that are God’s.” Even though for most part we chose to carry on business as it is, we must all attempt unity with those who see things differently, as we move forward and attempt to turn around our unbridled spending. America is out of control and unity to regain is important, however self interest continues to drive the process and little is accomplished by that.
Paul calls us to action, Ephesians 4:2-4, “ With all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” What is the the Spirit Paul writes about. The Holy Spirit, comes on the day of Pentecost, they are unified and empowered by it. The world was reached for Christ, by their unity, their commitment to the teachings of Christ. I ask you what is missing in our America today. One, our leaders are not unified, and most are following after their own self interest. Far to much time is spend working on that which will get them elected again.
It is wonderful to see unity in action. Our church is a good example. As I work with my brothers and sisters in Christ, we are blessed with leadership that fosters development in the things of God. I sometimes question why do some churches grow while others don’t. Is it unity in purpose? Is it the leadership? One does not always know the history of a church. As the past often gets in the way of spiritual growth within the individual, the same can be true for the church. However, I believe unity within the body goes a long way to getting what is wrong righted. Amen! America has been the world’s example of what unity can do, however I fear now at the time of great challenges that many are saying, “ get what you can, every man for themselves.” Greediness doesn’t foster unity!
Some would say, I have chosen again to write on matters that most would advise to shy away from. You know the advise to never discuss, religion, politics and money; as it will always lead to dissension. Funny how people don’t want to talk about these important issues. Ignoring a sensitive spot only leads to growth of division. Getting recognition of the issues causing problems often helps, but only with unified effort to resolve the issue. Man continue to act like this world is all there is too life. Wow, come on people, you believe in God, know of His love, see the vastness of His creation, and you believe this is all there is. You got to be kidding.
Well before I lose my focus I have one more thing to write. A good start for the process; Jesus speaking, Matthew 6:31, “ Therefore do not worry saying, what shall we eat? or What shall we drink? or what shall we wear, for after all these the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Unity within the community of man on that principal could solve all the world’s problems. Those of you who are unified around that believe have a great future ahead of you. I thank God for the unity He, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit bring. As Paul writes to the Ephesians, 4:25, “ Therefore, putting away lying, let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor, for we are members of one another.”

Believing
What is going on? Lord, why do I feel my prayers are not being answered? Why do I feel my life crumbing when I need to be at my best? Why is fear starting to inch into this situation? I have written many times about the faithfulness of God, about the saving power of Jesus, and the support of the Holy Spirit provided us in finding the answers to life. Yet as I attempt to write of God’s strength and blessing I find myself uninspired to do so. Before You get the impression the I Bill Goodin is throwing in the towel, let me say with a hearty voice,”My redeemer lives.” ‘The Lord is not slack in answering our prayers.” We can count on His supporting us during these times of extreme tribulation.
Knowing Jesus on a personal basis has so many privileges. He knows our difficulties and He is there to help us with our problems. The enemy, satan, will bring unbelievable trial into our lives. He knows how much we love life and those God has blessed our lives with. He will make every attempt to destroy those things dear to us. While we covet the answer to life's problems we often focus on earthly things and earthly answers. There are times in spite of man’s great wisdom we fail to accomplish what we believe is necessary. We pray and yet we look to the things of this world for answers to our problems rather than waiting upon the Lord and accepting His timing. Oh, how shallow our faith is and how often we want the upper hand.
I know today I will face again the issues surrounding Darlene’s failing health. I know what I want and I want it now and my mind is tired of man’s attempts that seemly amount to nothing. Yesterday the Lord spoke to me while I was in the room with Darlene to lay my hands on her and pray for her healing. I said Lord I am no healer but after several more pushes I went to the bed, laid my hands on my wife and prayed. I rebuked the issues that are causing her problems. I didn’t sense anything happened. What did I expect anyway. I had already said I’m no healer. Therein lies the problem I’m not, He is. Many wonderful prayers have been spoken on her behalf by people I believe to be some of God’s choicest, and yet she remains extremely ill. The doctors who perform miracles everyday have yet to answer my why’s and what’s. Yet I belief the Lord capable of doing much more than our minds can conceive.
I remember still the agony I felt at the time of my daughter Annie’s death. All the years of praying seems to have meant nothing as I look at her lifeless body. My hopes at that moment were shattered. The next day while walking through the kitchen bearing the heavy load of my loss I receive a vision of a lovely, healthy young women running through a beautiful field with her hair flowing over her shoulders. She turns and smiles and it is my Annie. At that moment my eyes viewed heavenly things and I realized that what I had prayed to God for had been answered. He gave me a brief look to assure me that all was Ok. Praise His name. I still miss her, there will never be another quite like her I know. I also know that someday I too will see her again this time free from the shackles of this life.
Make no mistake I want my wife to be healed. I want her wonderful presence to continue to be apart of my life. What I don’t know is what the Lord wants from all this. I will wait upon the Lord. I will accept His will for I know He does all things well. I will face this day uncertain as to how it will go. I will also face today with the assurance that Jesus will abide in me if I abide in Him. Whatever comes our way He is exceedingly able to provide us the grace to prevail.
I pray that what I have written today will not discourage you or give you reason for doubt. God has a plan for us all. How we align with that plan is our choice. If we truly have faith in Him we must seek His will.” In all our ways we must acknowledge Him”,and have faith to believe; “that all things work for the good of them that love the Lord.”” That’s what I’m believing in today. I hope you do too. Praise Him for His faithfulness!

Living
Well I read my Bible and commentaried it. I have read my other devotional materials and my daily Bible verse calendar and have decide that today I’m drawn to the scripture, Galatians 2:20, “ I am crucified with Christ; nevertheless I live; yet not I but Christ liveth in me; and the life I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” Wow what could I add to such truth and wisdom the Paul displays in this verse.
I ask a question, one we must all answer. What drives your life? Are you still victimized by the never satisfied lust for wealth and the world and its pleasures. Is it me before everyone and everything else. Take time to consider not how I compare to others, but how do I personally operate. Personal reflection must be to no one but Jesus. His motivation, His desire to please was all directed to the the Father and the Father’s will above all else. I have to believe if Jesus was moved by His human side He would not have accomplished what He did. You may believe it is impossible for me to be crucified with Christ, but isn’t that what we have to believe. Jesus represented every person who would believe on Him on the cross. After over 2000 years the blood has not lost one ounce of power and if we believe that He represented me and my sin on the cross then what should that mean to us.
I don’t know how He did it, I only know He did it. My faith in that is the key to my spiritual victory, the essence of my now redeemed state in life. What I am, what I believe, my very future is wrapped up in that faith. I believe Jesus did everything well, and I need to believe He expects me to do no less. The Comforter, Holy Spirit, was sent to help me find my way. You see I’m still human but I must follow His will. The ability to recognize His will and the power to walk in the way are all possibilities if my faith is strong to believe that the Spirit will lead me into all truth. This is the way and we must walk in it.
As is often the case in life we are given choices. The decisions we make are often self centered and that we must overcome. That is only possible when we are lead by His Spirit. As I grow older in age and now retired I have a bit more time to consider such issues. I have learned not to lean on my own understanding for it is human and lacks the direction and depth that only Jesus can provide. I am learning to yield my life, at an every increasing degree, to the Spirits leadership. It can be no other way for as I do this I demonstrate that Christ now lives in Me. Jesus said, “The Father and I are one.” I must declare that Jesus and I are one. That’s just how it works, if it is to work at all.
So dear friend I leave you with this hope that you will seek the fullness of Christ’s spirit working and changing you into His likeness. You say, I can’t do it. I can’t either but Jesus can.
Live in Christ,
Bill

Exalted
Exalted; to position God above all others. I was reading Psalms 23 this morning, where David exalts the Lord. “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside still waters, He restores my soul; He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name sake........ David goes on exalting and praising the Lord. What about His son when he was made King. Solomon knowing his inability to perform the task of king seeks the Lord. In fact the Lord came to Him and ask what He could do for him. His reply,1 Kings 3:9, “Therefore give your servant an understanding heart to judge your people, that I might discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great nation of Yours.” Solomon exalted God and the Lord gives Solomon wisdom and understanding. I believe that when a person, or a nation exalts God they become the recipient of all of God resources. Somewhere in our American history we have come to the point that we are exalting the wrong person. President, Speaker of the House, Governor, they no longer see themselves as public servants; they don’t seek God’s help in solving our problems. If there was every a nation that should glorify God, it is America.
Exalted, to elevate in rank above all other. Do people really do that anymore, maybe that is our problem. Do those whom we place in office, assign lofty positions, pay large salaries to, recognize that there is a greater power, a all mighty creator who put the very stars in place. I pick on the leadership but what about you and me. Do we exalt God by the way we live? When things get tough do we seek the Lords help or do we believe the ways of man are best. Somehow man has elevated, exalted himself, to the most important position, self reigns. That is why special interest groups are getting the attention, why our politicians can’t get anything done; they are exalting the wrong persons. Do you get it? One might say, “well if you were in their position you would do no different.” Can you really, truly say that about yourself or about me. Have we gotten so worldly that we no longer try to be Christ like. Do you really believe the government is to be exalted. Do you no longer believe, “that my help comes from the Lord”? Our country declares on our coins, “In God we Trust.” Is it any wonder why some want to remove that statement, because as a nation we no longer believe that. If we do there is more going on behind the scenes than what I’m getting.
I seek not to denounce our government but I do question as to where they seek direction from. I believe if our leadership would humble themselves before God and man, declare the necessity of God’s leadership, for the decisions they struggle with, that would say something to our Lord, and also to the people. I want leadership that seeks God, and seeks His direction for the decisions they make. Jesus said, “The greatest among you must be a servant. But those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” America if it continues its trend away from God we will be humbled. I’m afraid it is already happening. God will not be mocked!
My biggest concern for America is that as a whole we no longer exalt God. We have lost our first love. One might read this e-mail and say we are not that bad. Ok, how about lukewarm. What did Jesus say about that? “Because you are luke warn, neither hot or cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.” We can’t be everything and truly exalt God. I believe it is He alone we must serve, nothing else. He is Lord and must be exalted, first place in our lives, our actions, our nation, must proclaim that as truth. So we are at a point of decision. “Seek ye this day whom you will serve.” My prayer is, “As for me and my house we will serve the Lord.” Oh Lord, may the Holy Spirit direct my path as I endeavor to live that way. Thank you Jesus!

If
This morning my mind is alive, inspired, energized. Probably a carry over from yesterday evening when I read the book, “Heaven is for Real.” The story of Colton Burpo’s experiences in a near death illness. Thank you Jerry and Phyllis for giving me the book. It was a fabulous read! Children are so precious, so loved. They hold a special place in most peoples hearts. Jesus often used them as examples of what faith really is. I can only say wow, what a God we serve, what a Savior we have, and he is with me everyday, His Holy Spirit guides me.
I struggle today as to how I might use this writing to remove some of the IF concerning death. I too have been given a heavenly vision, a peak into the unknown. That vision is imprinted in my mind. I will never forget, I thank God for it. As we struggle through this life we must realize that there a heaven to gain and a hell to shun? The Bible is God’s outline to the were to, and how to, for my life. However, I fear there is an ever increasing host of people who don’t believe the Bible to be the inspired word of God. It is just another book. Some would say that is ridiculous, but often those same people never read it’s pages. When the enemy comes against us the power of it’s words will run him off. I believe the Bible to be God’s roadmap for us. It identifies a loving God, who send His Only begotten Son into a sin sick world, to offer man redemption and eternal life with Him. The resurrected Jesus, who sits at God’s right hand, intercedes for us everyday, and has prepared for us an eternal heavenly home. What if one chooses not the things God has given. There is also a flip side for the one who choose a course away from God and that will be hell. Many people have had a glimpse of both and most who have had a glimpse are never the same. I encourage you to read the Bible, ask the Holy Spirit to guide you into all truth. What have you to lose? What if someday you are asked why did you loose your way; why you did not read His word. God loves you, He wants you to be with Him forever, in a place beyond our wildest dreams. Yes, read the Book, and believe the truth, time is short, decisions that will effect all eternity are before you. Seek Him with your prayers!
I close with a scripture, ( 1 John 4:18), There is no fear in love, but perfect love casteth out fear; because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.” So it you fear the if’s in life I encourage you to seek the author and finisher of our faith. The same God who created you wants to welcome you home. He loves you beyond understanding, He has prepared a wonderful place for you. “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor entered into the heart of man, the things that God has prepared for us.” His love can cast out all the fears you have of death, IF you believe and trust in His Word. Praise His name forever!
Holding fast,
Bill

What Do We Do When Things Fall Apart?
Through the difficult night as I labored to sleep the message, “draw neigh unto Me and I will draw neigh unto you,” kept coming. In the most difficult times, when we ask why, we are invited to draw close to God and He will draw close to us, and comfort and love us. In the deep mysteries of life I’m often tempted to question why. The faith that was strong to believe, “that all things work for the good of them that love the lord,” was shaken as another mystery presents itself, I am once again left to believe what my faith has prepared me for.
Oh, that I could find something to comfort in such a time as this. There is only One that can truly do that. Jesus himself said, “In this world you will have trouble and trials, but believe in Me for I have overcome the world.” My faith, and all who believe, will someday claim victory. Until that day I must face what the day brings with confidence in my Lord and cling to Him for the strength to carry us through. As our Countryside family mourns the loss of this precious child; may God, who cares for him now, bring assurance to our hearts.
In His service,
Bill

Mothers
Mother,” the female parent of a household. In the Hebrew family, the mother occupied a higher position than that enjoyed by women of other nations.”That’s from Nelson’s Bible Dictionary. I believe I can do better than that. There are references to motherhood throughout the Bible but as often the case this subject is difficult to put into words. As I look back across my life there is nothing that touched my being like my mother. Only Jesus has touched me more. As I look back across the years now I find myself asking, was there ever a time she wasn’t there when I was growing up. It seems to me that she was an ever present loving, caring, person that gave herself always second place in the family. Make no mistake we were poor by the worlds standards but Mom always made a way to make her family feel special. I could use up all the space in this e-mail detailing those memories and her commitment to her family. She never worked outside the home, never took a vacation, and was always there to provide something special. In those days room mothers were encouraged and many a year she would volunteer to provide special things for special days. She never obtained a drivers license as she didn’t see any reason to have one. In fact I don’t remember Mom shopping for anything but groceries, what little else we could afford could be ordered from a catalog. That usually only occurred one time a year before school started. I never left home in the morning without a warm breakfast, I never returned from school that she was not there. I can not, nor would I even be able to, tell of all the ways my mother demonstrated her love.
I often find myself wondering what is that spark that makes a women a mother. God created in women a special set of skills that only she could administer. I have met many wonderful people in my life; I have been blessed by them but no one has loved me like my mother did. The last ten years of my mothers life was difficult as during that time she struggled with three different cancer’s. In 2003 ovarian cancer finally ended her life. I was away on vacation when I received the word that she was dying. I drove straight through the night to get home but not in time. My brother recalls her final moments when she set up in the bed and reached out for something beyond the physical death that came. Mom was going home.
I suppose there are many who will read this e-mail and say yes that was my mom, for you see I believe God has placed in the hearts of the female a special capacity that we men have not, nor will we ever have, the capacity for love that most mothers have. There is a purpose for everything under heaven, and I thank God that he purposed for me to be born and raised by such a fine women. What inspires a person to achieve beyond themselves, to be able to form other’s lives, to put themselves second to everything else without complaining or boasting. There is only one word for that and that is MOTHER. I thank God for mine; I believe she was the one thing in life that taught me what love really is. When I met Jesus, and He entered my life, I was now able to see where mom’s love came from. As a child I acted as a child and it was mom who kept my life together, but when I became a man, and was responsible for my life, I believe I was better able to see God’s love for me because of my mother. I ask you isn’t that what God created mother’s for?
Abe Lincoln’s remarks concerning his mother has always inspired me. He said, “all that I am I owe to my mother.” Not every child born will say that of their mother. Sorry to say some probably don’t deserve it but God intended for you and me to be nurtured and loved by our mothers until such time we are mature enough to accept our place in His world and assume the role he has created us for. Thank you Lord for your wisdom, thank you for mothers, and thank you for your Grace that makes it all possible. As often when I write of the things of God I feel that I have not really done justice to that which I write. That is true today. Nothing this side of heaven can truly tell of the love of a mother. Thank you Lord!

The Blood
“There is power, power, wonder working power in the precious blood of the Lamb.” Nothing made by man, has, or will, ever compare to the saving power of Jesus’ blood. From (Hebrews 9:22) According to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no remission.” Jesus became the Lamb, His blood making atonement for man’s sins. Jesus said, “No one comes to the father except through Me.” Faith in Jesus, and by His shed blood, man can come to a Loving God. “God cared enough to send His only begotten son, that who so ever believeth in Him should not perish but have ever lasting life.”“
The last two nights we watched,”The Greatest Story Ever Told.” It is a more civil movie, about the life of Jesus than, “The Passion of Christ.” In reality, I don’t believe even the scenes from that movie really identifies what our Lord and Savior endured. Jesus endured the cross, shed His blood knowing that He was paying a price that man could not pay himself. At that moment I don’t believe any man really understood what was happening, but on the third day he arose. Soon after His Resurrection he departed this world to go to the Father. Upon leaving, He left them with the promise, “ In My Father’s house are many mansions, if it were not so I would have told you. I am going to prepared a place for you that where I am you will be also be.” He also told them of a Comforter He would send, “One who would lead them into all truth.” They waited in Jerusalem, and on the day of Pentecost they received the Holy Spirit; the Gentile Age begins.
Two thousands years have not diminished the power of Jesus blood to save man from his sin, however many fail to recognize the importance of what Jesus did. David said, (Psalms 1:1), “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.” I praise Jesus that he has paid the price for me to a better life; “what can make me whole again, nothing but the blood of Jesus.”
Well, Easter is a special time for the Christian as we once again remember the events leading up to His greatest triumph. Sadness and loss on Friday, and then the Resurrection and joy, of Easter morning. “Up from the grave He arose, a mighty triumph over the soul. He arose a victor from the dark domain to remain for every on His throne to reign. He arose, He arose, Hallelujah Christ arose.” . Our God is an eternal God, and He is also a God of second chances. He loves us more than we will ever know. Jesus said, “Greater love has no man than to lay down His life for a friend.” I know my Redeemers lives, I feel His blessed Spirit moving in me. Jesus, thank you for the precious blood you shed for me. I did not deserve it, but thank you for your precious gift.

Strength
Where does the strength come from to endure when our strength is gone? ( Isaiah 40:31), But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint.” Last night I had the pleasant opportunity to enjoy an active evening with Max and Samuel my Grandsons. I was still savoring the memories of past days when my cousin Wade and I would romp enjoying the energy of youth the freedom of expression having acres to run and enjoy. I attended Wade’s funeral Thursday, he died unexpectedly of a heart attack.
Strength to do the things we enjoy in life is a blessing. Rollicking with the Grandsons, and a 65 pound Lab, takes all you got at my age. I laugh almost continuously, Darlene worries I’m playing to rough. Strength to enjoy, what many have no opportunity to enjoy, often requires more than we have to give. I went to bed at 10:00 grateful that it was bath time for the boys. How often in the journey of life have you been hard pressed to perform, maybe just to hang in there, until you had nothing left to give. Where does the strength come from for us to endure life situations that often knock us down. My help comes from the Lord. How many times have you realized, “without Me you can do nothing.” As I write this morning my eyes are drawn to the pamphlet, from the funeral home, on the deceased. The front page is the often written “Footsteps.” I quote a section from it; it clarifies my story. A man who’s life flashes before him in a dream. Footprints, along a sandy beach. Two sets, then only one. He asks the Lord,”Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you’d walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troubled times in my life there is only one set of footprints. Why when I needed You the most you would leave me. The Lord replied, “My son, My precious child, I love you and would never leave you. During your times of trials and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I CARRIED YOU.”
Many times in my life it has been two outs in the bottom of the ninth. I’m unable to lift the bat. A pitch hitter is needed and Jesus answers the call. A home run is hit, the situation is changed, victory instead of defeat. That’s the Lord I serve: His average is 100%, He never fails. Just one more thing: “ Pick you this day who you will serve. Jesus loves us and He gave His life for us.” Praise His name! Thank you Jesus!

Blessed
Last night as I reclined in my easy chair after a wonderful steak dinner, with muscles aching after a hard days work, my mind realizes how blest this man is. I think the trip to Louisville Friday night to see the Passion play started me thinking. It was a great trip with some Christian friends, and the scenes of the play were still resonating in my mind. Considering the blessings I have how can I be still. I also realize that sometimes soon satan will cause havoc in my life and attempting to shake my faith; his goal to reduce the feelings of blessing.
When someone says I am blessed what does that mean to you? I won’t enumerate on the ways most view blessing but I will speak from my heart. Consider, (Romans 5:8), “ While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” I want you to ponder that a moment....... How about these from Jesus, (John 3:16), “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him would not perish but have every lasting life.”; (Matthew 10:39), “ if you cling to your life you will lose it; but if you give it up for Me, you will find it.” I ask you, are we blessed? Wow, wow, wow, without a doubt!
Consider the scene of me sitting in my easy chair, feet up, belly full, and muscles aching. Jesus was sent by God even though we are unworthy of His love; He bled and died for our sins. We can rest knowing that He does all things well. He was the sinless, perfect sacrifice required. His sacrifice, His atoning blood, was a free gift. I did nothing to deserve it, it was done because He loved me more than I’ll ever know. Yes, in this world we will have trials, hearts aches, but we can be assured that He cares for us; through His power, ”we are more than conquerors through Christ.” Good times, good food, and rest are all wonderful, but nothing truly satisfies man’s heart needs like Jesus.
Yes, I awoke this morning realizing how truly blessed I am. I will praise Him in worship with my Christian brothers and sisters at church on this Sabbath day. I’m thankful that Spring is finally here after a hard Winter. I look forward to what lies ahead knowing, “that all things work for the good of them that love the Lord and are called according to His purposes.” Thank you Lord for giving me the opportunity, each day, to serve you. Thank you for paying the price, and giving me direction and hope! Yes, I am truly blessed!
Have a great day!

Appearance
I once knew a person a GE who believed that appearance was everything necessary for success. If you looked the part you will probably become the part. I have come to realize that a person can look the part but often doesn't have the ability needed. Consider, (1 Samuel 16:7-), " But the Lord said to Samuel, 'Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.'" David was chosen that day though he was not the one most would have thought that God would pick. I'm immediately reminded of another, John the Baptist. He wore camel skin clothing, wandered in the wild and eating locust and honey. What about Jesus himself. Many misinterpreted Him and few recognized Him as Messiah.
One of the issues in faith is that often people are not as they outwardly appear to be. Man often fails to internalize the truth and outward appearances deceives many. Man often talks, appears to have a resemblance, but inwardly the heart is not in it. Jesus spoke many times about the hypocrite, the luke warm, those who had an appearance of holiness, but the truth was not in them. Many start on the road to glory but often fail because they have failed to allow the Holy Spirit to empower and support their daily lives: the inward power of God is not there. Other's want association only, nothing more. The price is too high and the path too difficult.
I believe if there was ever a time for Christians to be genuine it is now. I believe the time has come where if we the Christian element in America don't stand up for our faith we will be just another country without God's guidance and blessings. What troubles most is that America has allowed appearance to overshadow the reality that we have lost our first love. I'm concerned that even the appearance is being eroded and a good many of our leaders seek neutrality in their appearance as it is no longer popular to have a Christian appearance. No, I'm not getting off on jewelry, make up, etc; what I'm talking about is the presence of God that finds its way into our lives and makes our actions Christ like. We are not afraid to say as a country, " In God we trust," and our actions and laws represent that faith.
So where do we go from here? I have a plan and hope all will join me in that effort. Start today by reading God's word everyday. After you have read then write down what you have read. Then pray asking God to reveal the truth to you. Ask for the Holy Spirits leadership as the Word becomes a living part of your very being. Seek at least one person a day, e-mail, phone, personal, somehow get more outward with your faith. Determine that your family knows what you believe and ask God to give you the courage, wisdom, and above all love as you interact with them daily. Become a voice at home, on the job, in your community, assuring that God is recognized and honored in our community. Make your presence and testimony known. That is a tough assignment but what is our purpose. Do you get it yet? We were born with a purpose. That purpose is surround with people. Jesus depends on us, our inward and outward being is to be like Him. I know when people start telling other people what to do there is often a rub and so I must be careful. I feel an urgency, that what we are going to do, we need to do it now. We must realize as Christians that we have a job to do. That responsibility is not to be taken lightly. Appearance is not enough!
So what does a coach say to his team when they are facing defeat? Few really good coaches accept defeat because they are down. Most will appeal to the team members to go out there and play as you are capable. Sometimes the team will rally, put on a full court press, seek the rewards of victory. Other teams, will accept defeat, and hope at the end the coach will commend them for giving it their best. Jesus said, (Luke 9:23-25), "If any of you wants to be my follower, you must put aside your selfish ambition, shoulder your cross daily, and follow Me. If you try to keep your life for yourself you will lose it. But if you give up your life for Me, you will find true life. And how do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose or forfeit your soul in the process." Paul realized the goal, (Philippians 3:12), "Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of for me.......... Forget what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal, to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." We all need to consider, it's late in the game. the team is struggling, do we win or lose?
Have a great day!

Your Name
All morning, even before I got up, which was early, this phrase, “Your Name Is like no other”, keeps coming into my mind. It is a new song we have sung at church, and I can’t quote all the words, but I know the One of whom we sing. Most of my inspirations start with one word, redeemed, love, hope, all apart of Your Name, but today one word does not suffice. “There is no other name by which man may be saved.” “At the Name of Jesus every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.””I am the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.” Those are just a few of the verses of scripture that tell of Your Name. I realize that my mind is incapable of encompassing the words requires to descript You Lord. Abe Lincoln once said that all that I am, I am because of my Godly mother. My mother was a wonderful woman, no man could have had one better, but no one, or nothing else, has touched my life like Jesus.
Your Name Lord, has been the backbone of the Christian church. In Your Name the lame have walked, caused the blind to see, redeemed countless numbers of people around the world. By the power of Your Name man has been given a second chance. I often think what it must have been like to have met You first hand. To have witnessed Your miracles, to hear Your messages, to experience the joy when You arose from the grave. You even gave us the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, a part of you, to reside within us, to guide us, along life’s way. You have told us that you will come again and take us home with you to reside in your presence for eternity. Wow, how wonderful is that!
One of life’s great mysteries for me has been how an all seeing, all knowing God, could love mankind enough to send His only begotten son to come to this world, give His life for my sin and by His blood I now am saved. Not only have I been redeemed but I have Your presence in my life daily. Your grace provides me strength for all of life’s issues I encounter, I am never alone, for You care for me. From, (John 14:16-19) “I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world at large cannot receive Him and does not recognize Him. But you do, because He lives with you now and later will be in you. No, I will not abandon you as orphans—I will come to you. In just a little while the world will see Me no more, but you will. For I will live again and you will, too.” Praise you Jesus!
Your Name Lord, when I think of you, I think of what life should be. We live in a troubled world, our country teeters on the brink of collapse, spiritually, socially, economically because I fear we have lost our first love. Yes, there was a time in the history of this great country, so blessed by your leadership, we wrote into our very laws, the principles within your word. Today, we are allowing every conceivable ungodly element center stage. Much has been lost. It is no longer though that, “In God we Trust,” is appropriate for our coins or a statement of our country’s belief. Your Name has seemly lost favor in the halls of Congress as we allow the unthinkable to become law. How can we allow partial birth abortion. Any way you see it breaks your law and I fear that the lives taken, the blood shed, carries with it the cry for justice. Some day man will cry out for the rocks to fall upon them so they might hide from your justice. Man will find out soon enough of the power of Your Name.
Yes, I long for the day when the affairs of this world will change. When I will reside with You forevermore, but until that day I pray that I, with my brother’s and sister’s in Christ, will continue to be faithful to our calling. Help us to seek your will, your guidance, may Your Name direct us and keep us until that day. Once again I have fallen short in my ability to express what is in my heart. Your Name brings joy to my heart and gives me energy to carry on. I praise You and want nothing more than to bring glory to Your Name, in all I do. May my life be an extension of Your Love. Praise Your Name forever!
Have a great day!
